Five OPM songs that will make you miss your loved ones abroad

By Gillian Gacuma

MANILA–Named as the modern heroes of the country, to honor the Filipinos abroad who do not only work for their families but for their country. Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) sacrifice years of service away from their families for greener pastures abroad.

In a recent study of Philippine Statistics Authority shows that on average, 2,500 Filipino workers leave the country everyday. Just last year, the Philippines was able to deploy 1.8 million citizens to work abroad. And the number increase every year. As well as the number of families spending holidays with their loved ones’ face on iPad or laptop screens.

While I don’t see the trend to go down or stable in the next 10 to 15 years, there are number of ways that we could reminisce the days that our loved ones spent the simple or big moments of our lives with us here. Like listening to these Pinoy musics.

So ready your tissue and hang in there as I list the top 5 songs that will make you miss your loved ones abroad.

Natatandaan mo pa ba
Nang tayong dal’wa ang unang nagkita?
Panahon ng kamusmusan
Sa piling ng mga bulaklak at halaman
Doon tayong nagsimulang
Mangarap at tumula
Natatandaan mo pa ba
Inukit kong puso sa punong mangga
At ang inalay kong gumamela
Magkahawak-kamay sa dalampasigan
Malayang tulad ng mga ibon
Ang gunita ng ating kahapon

Say goodbye, say hello to a lover or friend
Sometimes we never could understand
Why some things begin then just end
We can really never have it all no, no, no
But oh, can’t you see
That no matter what happens
Life goes on and on
So baby just smile
Coz I’m always around you
And I’ll make you see
How beautiful life is for you and me

Tinitiis ang lamig
Alang-alang sa pag-ibig
‘Di madali ang buhay na
Pinili para sa akin ng tadhana
Ngunit ngayong gabi

Miss mo bang magtagalog?
Kuya pag may kumausap sayo
galingan mong mag-ingles, galingan mo kuya
