MANILA– Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Protected Area Management Board (DENR-PAMB) confirmed that Mataas na Gulod National Park that covers Mt. Palay-Palay or known as Pico de Loro in Cavite will be closed indefinitely to all hiking activities starting October 1, 2016.
The famed natural park was flocked by large number of visitors and hiking enthusiast since its boom in the recent years. According to PAMB the closure will give way for better planning and rehabilitation of the area.
In an interview with PinoyMountaineer, the management board added that they will come-up with new rules and regulations during the closure. While local residents and most mountaineers applaud the decision, sighting that “it’s just time.”
