MANILA — “Break Free” is a moving advertisement that tells the story of a former marathon runner locked up in a lifeless nursing home. One evening he discovers his old running shoes by Adidas, and decides to take a run in his old marathon outfit. He wants to leave the boredom behind and tries to escape the nursing home, against the will of the nurses. His actions ignite a spark of life in the residents of the home and they support him on his way to freedom.
The German director and Filmacademy Baden-Wuerttemberg student, Eugen Merher ad’s stands apart from a pack of overly similar work in the category.
However in an interview with Huffington Post, he revealed that the shoemaker was not impressed with his work. “We tried sending it to [Adidas] Communication department but they really didn’t react.”
As of writing, the video originally uploaded on YouTube last month has attracted more than 1.5 million views and ranked into the 26th trending spot. On the spotlight, maybe the brand will take notice.
