#TGIF: Ayuntamiento de Manila is now open to the public!

MANILA– Four years after the reconstruction of the former seat of the 18th century Manila City Council, the general public can finally explore the beautiful Ayuntamiento building in Intramuros starting today, March 31, 2017.

In a tweet by Intramuros Administration, it showed a humble streamer that bares the announcement from Beareu of Treasury regarding the exciting news of its opening.

Guests will be accepted every Tuesdays and Fridays on a window time of 11 am to 12 noon and 4 pm to 5 pm. The tour would cost Php40 or almost a dollar and a discounted rate of Php10 for students.

Dubbed as the Marble Palace, the neoclassical style building housed wide collection of paintings, grand spaces, large window panels with ornate wrought-iron balconies, and a central clock tower. It served many important government functions until it was completely destroyed during the Battle of Manila in 1945.

It was then reconstructed in 2009 to house the Beareu of Treasury and was completed in 2013 with a cost of Php1.2B or $24M.
